From Kempton Park to Burgersfort, A Journey Driven by Opportunity
Walter Lebelo was born in Kempton Park, Gauteng, and now lives in Burgersfort, Limpopo, where growing business opportunities have opened new doors for him. As South Africa moves toward renewable and sustainable energy solutions, Walter saw a chance to contribute meaningfully to this thriving sector.

Why Walter Joined TEES
Walter’s journey with TEES did not begin with him searching for a training institution instead, TEES discovered Walter.
During community-based programmes delivered by TEES in Burgersfort, a TEES official noticed Walter’s exceptional work ethic and passion for the solar and electrical field. At the time, Walter was already actively involved in the solar business alongside his father, working hands-on in Burgersfort even though he did not yet hold formal qualifications.
Recognising his potential and dedication, TEES approached Walter directly. When the official learned that he had no formal qualification despite his evident talent, Walter was offered a life changing opportunity: a fully sponsored placement to complete his Electrician ARPL and Solar Installation RPL at TEES at no cost to him. He accepted the opportunity wholeheartedly.
Before beginning his Electrician journey, Walter had already been participating in several TEES sponsored community programmes, including:
New Venture Creation Skills Programme
Occupational Health & Safety (OHS)
Assessor Training
Skills Development Facilitator (SDF)
These programmes strengthened his foundation and prepared him for formal artisan development.
With TEES support, Walter also registered his own business, R37 Energy Solutions, based in Burgersfort. Together with his business partners, he has since established an ongoing partnership with TEES, receiving continuous business mentorship and coaching. As CEO, Walter is enthusiastic about the growth journey ahead.
