When the GDED Auto Electrician students first joined the programme, many faced a common challenge: despite years of hands-on experience, they lacked formal recognition in their field. Some had never registered their businesses with CIPC, and none held certified trade qualifications as Auto Electricians. Business coaching was also out of reach, leaving a gap between their skills and their ability to scale and professionalize their craft.
Fast forward to today, and the story is completely different. Through the programme, these aspiring artisans have achieved remarkable milestones. Every student has now registered their businesses on the CIPC platform, and they receive dedicated business coaching from our in-house, qualified staff. These sessions equip them with the knowledge and confidence to manage their businesses effectively, bridging the gap between technical skill and entrepreneurial success.
Their technical growth has been equally impressive. The group has shown measurable progress in key competencies from checking battery quality and alternators to conducting fault findings on wiring boards and executing basic car wiring. These skills not only validate their practical experience but also position them as competitive professionals in the South African automotive industry.
